Follow these emergency steps in order. If at any point you feel unsafe, evacuate and call for help immediately.
Safety First
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.
Turn off the Boiler and allow the ignitor to cool completely
Listen for the sequence of operation does the Boiler ignitor glow when called
Check the Boiler ignitor resistance with a multimeter if accessible
Inspect the Boiler ignitor for visible cracks or signs of wear
Call for Boiler service as hot surface ignitors typically need replacement
