Follow these emergency steps in order. If at any point you feel unsafe, evacuate and call for help immediately.
Safety First
If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.
Turn off your Boiler at the thermostat to allow the coil to thaw
Change the Boiler air filter as dirty filters are a common cause of coil freezing
Check Boiler airflow by verifying all registers are open and unobstructed
Allow the Boiler coil to thaw completely this may take several hours
Call for Boiler service if coils freeze again after thawing and addressing airflow
